1312068 2012-11-13 06:18:00 Vodafone hmmm.
I had Vodafone, it was Ihug, then became Vodafone (Phone mainly, not just ISP).

All was ok until we moved back up here.

Get connected at rental on Red Network and select Caller ID as well.
Caller ID not working for days. Ring them to be told to variously disconnect phones, disconnect router etc.
Eventually after I begin to tire of this, I am told it doesn't work because Hsn Exchange cannot do both caller ID and Voicemail together.
Nonsense, husband installed first NEAX way back when and it was capable then and since upgrades has remained capable.
Get told $99 charge for techs to come out.
Techs come out, listen to story and ask why they got sent to residence when it just hadn't be activated at exchange. Phone call by techs and 5 mins later, Caller ID working.

Meanwhile my routers start to crap out. Every one I connect lasts between a few hours and a few days, then starts dropping connections, causing static on line etc.

Numerous tests performed by us, inc husband checking wiring, gate etc.

Ring Vodafone endlessly. Nothing.

Meanwhile buy a house and move.

Rang 3 weeks in advance to arrange move of phone/internet to new house.
Checked up in a weeks time to find they had not even lodged it, had no record of it at all.
Re-arrange move of phone and internet.

Arrive at new place to find o phone and no internet. Phone on Vodafone mobile to find out what happened. At that point my mobile dies.
Use husbands mobile to ring.

Told my mobile died because I had not paid. I point out payment was made, in advance as usual. Told to prove this. Ask how. They say go online and get payment info.
Point out that isn't possible due to no phone or broadband.
Ask what happened - no explanation from them, just they are working on it.
How long then?
10 - 14 days.
Mobile - told to get that back up, have to pay (again) by Visa immediately over ph.

Pay it.

Ring telecom, arrange to get phone and broadband. Phone on in 2 hours, broadband on in 4 hours.

Phone Vodafone back and cancel phone and broadband.

Then 2 weeks later I get the final bill from the other place - at the exact time I was using husbands mobile, there were apparently a load of calls to it, from the previous landline number. And a bunch of them several days after we had left.
Ring them and ask how this was possible when I was using said mobile to ring them after having left previous place.

No explanation, they wipe the bogus charges.

Meanwhile the death of modems ceases and all is well now at new place on Telecom. Post on Geekzone about Red Network and routers issue. Manager phones and says it is an incompatibility issue with their Huawai equipment and my routers. I list the various brands that had died and ask should so many different ones be incompatible. No explanation, he hangs up.

Then viewing Vodafone cellphone bill online ceases to work, password issue. Go through online process of getting new password and so on. This fails half way through each time. After 3 attempts at this, phone them. They say they have fixed it and I just need to go online and do the password thing again.
It fails half way through.
This happens regularly over the next week until I phone and tell them to reset the password from their end.
They cancel the account altogether.

Phone again to point this out and get told to go online and do the password chnage again.

Tell them to cancel cellphone.

Get Telecom cellphone instead.

2 weeks later get final cellphone bill from Vodafone with various charges to overseas numbers inc Ireland etc.

Ring them and ask them to explain these. No explanation, they just agree to wipe charges.

Stuff Vodafone. never again.

1312069 2012-11-14 07:48:00 I am with Slingshot and get from 0.4 to 5, so not happy with that, I am at the end of the line, but hopefully not forever.

Cicero, I was with slingshot for a long time, and like you i reached the end of my tether with those abysmal speeds. Then I came here and asked for advice. I was introduced to Actrix - thank you guys. Two years on and still getting constant download speeds of around 12mbps - no kidding. And did I mention the all NZ-quick to answer helpdesk?

Give them a call bud, you'll never look back.

1312071 2012-11-14 16:50:00 Cicero,I am with Slingshot also and have to put up with pretty average speeds at times but I am in a area were others are with various ISP's and are getting not much better speeds

Current wait list for getting onto Broadband in my area is over a year (of 2 days ago) due to congestion(just helped a neighbour go from dial up to "T" Stick wireless)

Ask around neighbours about their ISP and speeds first to get a better idea of advantages of jumping ISP's

1312072 2012-11-14 19:24:00 I might suggest they look into my speed with a threat of moving to Actrix.

Will also look at next door Slingshot.

1312073 2012-11-15 05:39:00 ... And did I mention the all NZ-quick to answer helpdesk? ...

I rang Actrix once on behalf of a friend - when the IVR answered immediately, I got confused as to which button to push.

It was a REAL human being which had answered in less than 5 seconds !

1312074 2012-11-15 17:15:00 Went to Slingshot and after a week pretty happy, increasing from 60 gigs to 250 gigs and saving $30 a month was a big incentive and apart from torrents on Monday evening, the speed has been pretty good (about 600 metres to the exchange here). Twelvevolts (5457)
1312075 2012-11-15 19:17:00 I'm with Actrix for the last 6 years

1312076 2012-11-15 20:06:00 I can really imagine how frustrated you were with vodafone!

Personally, Telecom has the best service if one doesn't mind the foreign accent - I've no problems with it, not at all.
