1312045 2012-11-12 05:29:00 I had exactly the same problem as you, Cato.

When I did manage to get into various sites I often use, everything seemed so slow and heavy going. It was almost like I was back in dial-up days.

How long did it linger?

Have you had this issue before?

Try changing the DNS server ips under the LAN/wireless connection. The windowsupdate prob in the other forum, maybe related. I think Telecom are having probs somewhere. Even tho (on their site) it doesnt say anything about it

Since, (QW and SK69 in the other forum), had the same prob. With the same thing (both of them had the same windowsupdate error). And I think both of them, are with Telecom. And changing the DNS server ips to Google's DNS server ip addresses fixed it

Also seemed strange that a site I copied and pasted from here (while using teamviewer) worked on this computer, but didn't work on Sk69's computer. All it said was connection was reset (twice)

Yeah, my issue definitely isn't related to Windows - as it exists on Linux and IOS.
Changing DNS between Telecom and Google also didn't help.

All the links worked with my Iphone's hotspot - which I find really odd.
Must be a telecom issue.

1312048 2012-11-12 09:16:00 My friend on Telecom Broadband has been complaining about not being able to access some websites over the past couple of days too & changing to Google DNS didn't help him either. I wonder what is going on? Greven (91)
1312049 2012-11-12 18:15:00 Cato, I couldn't respond last night because we couldn't access the internet.

I phoned Xtra, who advised leaving my phone number and they would call me back. When we finally made contact we were advised that those using Xtra with area codes 06 and 07 were affected. (That is Waikato/Bay of Plenty and I think 06 is Hawkes Bay.) At that stage he had no idea how long it would be before the problem was fixed but would text us if it was within a reasonable time frame.

If you are/were affected by the same problem/outage, hopefully, by now you should be up and running.

1312050 2012-11-12 19:47:00 Make sure your computer time is right. That can stop access to some sites. BigBadBob (14963)
1312051 2012-11-13 03:46:00 Telecom DNS issues. Would be more widespread than just NTH Shore??

How can it be DNS issue if the problem is present with Google's DNS??
