2012-11-11 23:17:00 | Pain is on the outside of the ribs. Might have done something while playing cricket, I'll give it a couple more days then go to the docs. SP8s - a normal docter, not one of the ones with 'extas' ;)

2012-11-12 01:19:00 | I've been having some upper back pain for the last few days, a sharp stabbing feeling. It occurs when swallowing, and seemingly random intervals throughout the day. The place where the pain is occurring is a bit below my right shoulder. Any ideas as to the cause of this? Nick, Go to a doctor for a checkup and maybe an ultrasound scan. I don't want to alarm you but... sharp pain could be gall stones or gall bladder problem. (Speaking from experience!) Google "symptoms of gall bladder attack" ..."in the back; under the right shoulder blade, or between the shoulder blades". And if the description fits go see a doctor.

Self diagnosis is a very bad habit to get into. I mentioned to my doctor once about going on the internet to find out about health issues. He just looked at me with a big frown on his face and said nothing. No one hear is a qualified GP. There are so many ailments with similar signs. Life is precious. :) |

2012-11-12 02:10:00 | ^ What Trev said!! In someone a bit older and in an 'at risk' category, those symptopms could also signify a heart attack (I speak from experience!).

2012-11-12 02:22:00 | Not too worried at the moment, as it only really seems to be when swallowing. Sometimes when bending a certain way, but mostly only when swallowing. I'll give it a couple of days and see if it comes right, otherwise will probably take it to a doctor and see. edit - Jocar, I think I can rule out a heart attack - I'm not really the age where it is common ;)

2012-11-12 02:31:00 | Nick, Go to a doctor for a checkup Don't wait a couple of days, don't wait until you are really worried, the fact that you raised the question here shows that you are uncertain. There is one way to settle this: Go to a doctor for a checkup Even allowing for the fact that none of us 'here' are medically qualified the overwhelming advice is Go to a doctor for a checkup
