| 1312850 | 2012-11-16 02:38:00 | I do a lot of cutting and pasting, and after it failed to do what I wanted for the millioneth time I thought I'd let of steam. Why the !@#@@@@ when I try to select a particular section of text to cut or copy does it insist on leaping sideways to select more text than I want. I know exactly where I want to cut from, that's why I put the damn start point where it was to begin with. I think it's inherent MS behaviour because it happens across a whole range of software and not just any one program. If there's an easy fix that I'm not in the know about please enlighten me. |

| 1312856 | 2012-11-16 04:22:00 | Depends what you're doing, however I do notice many people referring to the operation of copy and paste as "cut and paste" which does rather irk me. eg: "Just cut and paste from that website" Well actually no, you can't, because you can't cut something out of someone's website unless you broke into their server and edited their HTML, removing the part you wanted to cut. Grrr. |

Copy and Paste is when you want to copy it and repeat it somewhere else . Cut and paste is when you take it away to put somewhere else . Cut: [Ctrl] & [x] Copy: [Ctrl] & [c] Paste: [Ctrl] & [v] (sorry if I have repeated some of what has already been said on this thread) Dont forget if you do a "bugger" you can Undo: [Ctrl] & [Z] (some times you can undo a few steps in some applications) Another way to cut and paste: highlight text by left click and dragging cursor over text you want to move, release left click when finished selecting text, then drag the selected text to new position after doing a second left click, when you release the left click (2nd time) the text will pop over to the new position . Also you can put your cursor on to the start of the text you want to cut or copy hold the [Shift] key down, click onto the end of the text you want to cut or copy, when you take your finger off the [Shift] key all that text will be highlighted . Then you do the paste function . Having said that I have notice problems that the thread starter has pointed out . I think sometimes it works better dragging the mouse over the text in one direction (like backwards) If you want to copy off a PDF file you first have to click the PDF reader "text button" . |

Triple clicking the left mouse button will select the whole sentence (or paragraph) up to the next line break |
