| 1312834 | 2012-11-15 22:29:00 | So you're a micolight person as well as a Seagull racer Prefect. How is the little boat going? Last we heard you were experimenting with engine placement, I think it was. Last seagull race I did was at Waitara on Nov 3rd but the a storm came in half way through so they cancelled. Boat going well but being tidal and the boat being in sea water there and in freshwater in other races is a problem. I am in the process of making a slide so I can just pull the motors up if they stop and adjust up in down for fresh and salt water. Just made some anti cavitation plates which should get me another knot I hope. Running them on 100/130 made a bit of a knot. Before when one died it was a fair bit of drag now I will be able to change a plug or a carb with it out of the water or replace it with the spare motor. They sure did the right thing cancelling it because 2 hours later the river was flooded and big logs and debris were coming down, if you hit a log and disabled you would of got swept out into the Tasman. Get more drag on the leg on cat because its not shielded by transom. Any way had a gazillion capt morgan rums and diet coke with fellow seagull racers afterwards. http://seagulloutboard.com/ |

Woke up with a bit of a Swede, funny how buku rums does that. The Simply Seagull people down there Jan and Graham are the nicest people I have ever met. Hows this for trust they dont know you from a bar of soap you ring up for a part and its on your doorstep the next day with an invoice. The parts are dirt cheap hard to get cylinder is only $125. Max speed I have got is 15.2 Kilometres/Hr on GPS. But hope for faster speeds with improvement my wife even suggested going on diet to make the boat go faster but that may be pushing things too far. Get a seagull Richard see you at the next race. |

| 1312837 | 2012-11-16 02:42:00 | I had a Seagull once, then graduated to a 90hp Yamaha, which was far more reliable. Electric start too. Not on the same boat I may add. Your seagull racing sounds like a lot of good sociable fun. | Richard (739) | ||

| 1312839 | 2012-11-16 03:52:00 | snip. " Just made some anti cavitation plates which should get me another knot I hope." /snip I thought it was more important to renew the anti-fouling on the prop at least every 100 metres, or better still, do it every night? ;) |
