1312162 2012-11-13 04:00:00 Microsoft announced the departure of Steven Sinofsky, the chief architect of its newly launched Windows 8 operating system.

After the Windows 8 fiasco is this a surprise?

1312164 2012-11-13 04:27:00 He'll probably end up working at Apple, then later can sue MS for copyright of various OS functions, since Apple seem to "borrow" others ideas, and then call them their own. ;)

1312165 2012-11-13 04:29:00 It’s an era that apparently will continue without Sinofsky. The long-time Microsoft veteran was often praised for his ability to bring complex, massive software projects together. Windows 8 was his latest effort. But he was also criticized as someone who didn’t bring people together in a company that desperately needs to bring a unified approach to its technology if it is to compete effectively with Apple and Google.

It would appear that he does have the ability to bring complex, massive software together but cannot bring people together as a company. Team spirit was obviously missing.

Ballmer should be given the boot.

There's keyboard issues with the Surface (hardware), some confusion over Windows RT vs Windows 8 (marketing) and security fixes coming (every OS). Not really a fiasco...

1312171 2012-11-13 06:58:00 Although he was the "head" of Windows, he didn't design and push the MetroUI, that was done by a team lead by a woman (I forgot her name). If this was about Win8 I HIGHLY doubt that he would be fired/gotten rid of.

Win8 was a natural progression, look at WP & xbox, everything is coming together. It would be silly to have a Phone, tablet, and PC ecosystem. Especially with x86 tablets on the market.
