145543 2003-05-18 12:42:00 I have a computer networked with a Nokia ADSL 5122 Router on the network. I can ping "210.48.100.45" which is PressF1 but cannot ping the router (192.168.1.1). My browsers cannot access the internet (Page cannot be displayed). My TCP/IP and IE /tools/ internet options settings are identical to other computers on the network. This error happened suddenly and despite all my efforts (see my postings for "Can't get connected") I still cannot get connected. Help please David DavidW (532)
145544 2003-05-18 20:55:00 Hi David, in your previous posting you said the gateway was set to 192.168.100.254, but in this posting you say you cant ping the router on 192.168.1.1.
I dont know the Nokia router, but put the gateway setting for both machines to 192.168.1.1 (which is my Dynalink setting) and try that.

Cheers.

145545 2003-05-18 22:37:00 if u can ping an external numeric ip address, but not by name like www.xtra.co.nz, it is a dns problem.

in network properties, manually set dns to your isp's dns. or set that to 203.96.152.4(that's what I remember, paradise)

or set your router to be dns relay( if your Nokia model supports that). then point dns to ya router. or do a total dhcp.

good luck

145546 2003-05-18 23:00:00 From memory, the default nokia gateway ip is 192.168.1.254. If you haven't changed from the default, try pinging that ip, or entering into your browser address field to 'log on' to the nokia. wuppo (41)
145547 2003-05-19 06:56:00 On my other computer in the network 192.168.1.1 gets me to the router and everything is fine. My DNS in Network/properties/TCP/IP is set to 203.4.212.10 and 203.17.224.11 which is ihug.
Yang11 What's a total dhcp?
Terry Entering 192.168.1.1 in gateway doesn't help!
Thanks everyone but the axe is hovering. David

145548 2003-05-19 07:53:00 total dhcp is my own word for dhcp...the client gets all the info from the router yang11 (170)
145549 2003-05-23 22:01:00 Sorry but I don't have the skills to do anything with dhcp.
I am still unable to access the internet using a browser from computer B.
At the moment I can ping ihug.co.nz, the router on 192.168.1.1 ( my previous post saying I could not ping this was due to typing a , instead of a . in the address!!) I guess it is the router as when I put 192.168.1.1 into computer A I get to the router setup.
So which little setting has been corrupted? As far as I can see all the settings are identical on computer A & B. I havn't tried removing and reinstalling IE yet as Netscape doesn't work as well.
I have tried logging on using a modem. I can connect to ihug with the modem but the browser still will not connect. Can anyone help? David
