I've looked in control panel under mouse but nothing there
using win xp

145529 2003-05-18 10:29:00 Go to Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices. Under the Sounds tab you can change or turn off the sounds associated with events.

The sound you are looking for is under Window Explorer - called Start Navigation . Select (None) as the sound for this event .

I have found that sometimes it switches it back on, so maybe save your current sound scheme, and reset it to that if it returns again .
