145496	2003-05-18 07:50:00	Do you use ICQ email check? I have for some years. Very useful to immediately display details of incoming emails. Two days ago it disappeared. Even the option in Main menu for email preferences disappeared. Seemed no way to get it back. I assumed it was problem with my system. I restarted, scanned with NAV, Adaware, etc, but no luck. Almost uninstalled to reinstall ICQ, but luckily looked on ICQ message boards. It seems this has been removed on all ICQ users systems, but ICQ have not alerted any users. One users got an answer as follows: Here is the response from ICQ: Dear ICQ User, Thank you for writing to us regarding ICQs email features. Due to recent reports regarding security holes with the ICQ email features and as part of ICQs ongoing attempts to provide ICQ users with a secure ICQ experience, the ICQ email features are currently unavailable. Please check the ICQ Web site (www.icq.com) from time to time for ICQ product upgrades. We apologize for any inconvenience Thank you, The ICQ Team How about that ? It seems they can modify the application on all PC's world wide !	Bazza (407)
145497	2003-05-18 08:32:00	I bazza, glad its not just me :-), i noticed i lost it on my older version i use on the laptop about 3 days back too, same as you - searched the icq site, found nothing - obviously not enough people had noticed it when i was looking for an answer, and after "reinstalling it 3 times" (different versions too) deceided that it must have been intentionally removed by icq. It is a bit of a shame as it was a handy little option for me for basic e-mail sending on the laptop which is a shared/work computer. However i notice that the "email preferences" tab is still there on my desktop version 2003pro. - but the option to use icq mail client to "send" is gone (i didn't use it on the desktop though so don't know if that is why it is still there?). But strangely if i reinstall icqpro2003 on the laptop i still can't seem to get the "email preferences" tab back? who knows ?:| Anyway interesting too see somebody else noticed it too, thought i was the only one, as everybody i had talked to hadn't noticed it gone, however most hadn't used that feature either ;-) >>2How about that ? 145498	2003-05-18 10:32:00	Well, they do host your contact list on their servers so I guess the email function must be tied in with that. So if they disable it on their servers, then no-one can access it. They probably can't remove anything thats on your machine. That would be a serious breach of security for anyones computer, plus it would be illegal. I used to use that feature a lot, but since discovered encrypted email, so I don't use it anymore. 145499	2003-05-18 19:13:00	Icq email check is still working for me, I'm using 2003a full version. I don't know about sending emails tho as I only use it to alert me of emails on my paradise account. Cheers Steve	Steve Askew (119)
