2003-05-18 06:00:00 | Im interested in buying a video capture card to enable me to convert my camcorder tapes to DVD - can anyone recommend an inexpensive card/software bundle ? Also what is the best recording format ? MPEG-4? Is having a TV tuner built-in worthwhile?

If not, a Video Capture Card (approx $150) can do the job of simply converting your videos into digital format. Software wise: MovieXOne - Freeware, and very good. In my opinion, much better than some software which costs money. TV Tuner - depends on if you want to record TV programs, or watch TV on your computer. Not essential. |

2003-05-18 06:14:00 | thanks, I was looking at pp and ascent and there is obviously a lot of choice out there - which is why I was after someones recommendation for one of them - rather than me buying a card and then finding it only records video in a 640*480 window...

2003-05-18 06:32:00 | I would recommend the...Winfast TV 2000 XP Delux, has a nice interface and comes with sopftware such as Ulead Video Studio 6 (on DVD) & Ulead Cool 3D. This card is a video capture & TV card and even picks FM radio. I brought this card for about $150 but is cheaper now. There is a review for it here www.lmbatech.com A

2003-05-18 10:17:00 | Hi I suggest the Studio 8 package of Capture Card & Editing Software for NZ$343. You can send your edited project back to tape or burn it to a CD or DVD. From Ascent: ascent.co.nz P.

2003-05-18 10:22:00 | Hi I suggest the Studio 8 package of DV Capture Card (with 'firewire' port) & Editing Software for NZ$343. You can send your edited project back to tape or burn it to a CD or DVD. From Ascent: ascent.co.nz Sorry, I now see you don't have a 'firewire' port on the vidcam. You may need to go the Analogue way. P.

2003-05-18 10:55:00 | Whatever you do, don't get anything from the FlyVideo brand. I tried 3 of their cards a year ago and they were absolute crap. DSE couldn't give a stuff either. Anyone know the very best tv-capture card money can buy? I'm still interested in it, but gave up after such a bad experience with those other ones :p
