145480 2003-05-18 06:47:00 Hmmm, it's been a long time since I was at school but...

How do I convert 52.375 inches, 47.875 " and 40.250 " into a measurement that I can measure with a tape measure using either metres/centimetres or good old feet/inches ?

The results need to be within 1/8 inch, as it will form the basics of an amateur radio antenna being built and like most things in life, size matters :-)

Just for future reference I bring you Google (www.google.com)

145483 2003-05-18 07:07:00 52.375 Inches = 133.0325 Centimeters
47.875 Inches = 121.6025 Centimeters
40.25 Inches = 102.235 Centimeters

Just FYI, I guess not bothering to look for a converter may mean using it is a stretch.

145487 2003-05-18 21:51:00 Curly,
you said good old feet and inches so here it is:
0.125" is 1/8 of an inch
12 inches = 1 foot
so divide the number of inches by 12 to get feet, then the rest is inches and eighths.
1. 52.375 inches = 4 feet 4 and 3/8 inches
2. 47.875" = 3 feet 11 and 7/8 inches
3. 20.250" = 1 foot 8 and 1/4 inches

see - being old is sometimes useful!

andy

145489 2003-05-19 01:07:00 Building a Yagi? :D The best I ever made were 10 element. At 26 MHz. They were large.

If you have a metric tape, just multiplying the ft.decimal by 0.3048 will do it. (if you are going the other way, divide metre.decimal by 0.3048 gives ft.decimal .
