2003-05-20 01:15:00 | I have a canon 4310sp printer that has started leaving broad horizontal bands when printing graphics. (photo's etc) It is connected to a amd 2200 512 ram widows xp home. Any help would be appreciated. | arnie (3836) | |

2003-05-20 02:04:00 | Sounds like head clogging Arnie, put it through a thorough head clean cycle then do a test print using the Canon test page that triggers from the cleaning Window. Of course, you could be running out of ink but the software usually signals that before it gets that drastic. If cleaning doesn't fix it, the print heads could be faulty. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2003-05-20 02:43:00 | Thanks Billy tried all that and test page is good both before and after cleaning. Only seems to have started since connecting to the new computer. Just wondering if it could be XP. I will bring the printer across to work and try it on win98 then get back to the forum Thanks Arnie

2003-05-20 02:48:00 | Try unplugging and replugging the cable. It is an IEEE 1284 compatible one, and the printer port is set to EPP or ECP (or even "bidirectional)? | Graham L (2) | |
2003-05-20 23:47:00 | Are you using XP drivers? That could be an issue. If the test pages print OK you really have to look at the instructions going to the printer. Don't forget the old standby of a complete power down (unplugged) and a hard reboot of the computer, many's the weird problem I have got rid of by turning everything off and starting again. Doesn't work with women though:p Cheers Billy 8-{) :D [pre][b]Puts on flame suit and heads for the bunker ;)
