145785 2003-05-19 12:12:00 I am running a two computer network, and I wish to know if there are any good programs which will take a screan capture of the other computer. My daughter is on the other computer, and I just want to make sure she is doing her homework and not chating on msn. minchjp (3682)
145786 2003-05-19 12:38:00 Hello minchjp (3682)
145787 2003-05-19 12:43:00 Not very trusting are you?

There are different ways to do this but without invading privacy which I believe should be respected by teens, although I'm not going to tell you how to be a parent.

So here's what you are looking for, do a google search for snoopware. You'll need to read over what they can do. I'm sorry I can't give you a name of the ones I've tested as it was a long time ago, and I mainly used it for remote controlling PCs, but it does give you a view of their PC Desktop and what's on the screen, you can also take control of it, but it's noticable since the user it's used on can see the mouse move, there was one that didn't make it so obvious, but again I can't remember the name.

145788 2003-05-19 23:43:00 All I want to do Is check if she is doing her homework and If she is, then I leave her alone! minchjp (3682)
145789 2003-05-20 00:57:00 That's ok minchjp, install snoopware.

As for installing snoopware, it's a security risk so you'll need to take extra precaution in how you set it up or you'll be giving access to everyone on the net.

I do however believe there's other options which limits internet capabilities, maybe you could install some type of Program that block certain areas of the internet, including chat. Can run on a time period or whatever.

Search google for snoopware and you'll come across one that is what you ask for.

145790 2003-05-20 02:21:00 I agree with the previous privacy comments, however - If you wish to go ahead with it, then try this:

Also look up RealVNC, and then there's KeyServ (Key Thief) as well.

Not a very trusting parent are you.

Perhaps it is a good time to sit your daughter down and have a little chat...

145791 2003-05-20 04:04:00 I won't tell you how to be a parent either but what are you going to do if you catch her chatting on MSN and she claims she is discussing her homework with her friends? ;-) :p Susan B (19)
145792 2003-05-20 04:40:00 Try Netnanny http://www.netnanny.com stu140103 (137)
145793 2003-05-20 05:34:00 Hmm...
The fun part starts when Privacy and Security get mixed with parental rights. There have been many (not just with me) "discussions" over what is an invasion of privacy, and what are parents doing their job...
A good thread about this is: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz - not directly related, but a good read nonetheless
