145753 2003-05-21 01:35:00 Yep, You only have about 15-18 KB/sec through the line. If one PC or download is sucking 13KB/sec of that it only leaves 2KB/sec for everything else to use which is way slower than a 56 modem.
Wont always be true of course as the rates will move around but you get the drift.

145754 2003-05-21 08:20:00 OT of this problem but I have one of these and the bl*&^y thing needs to be reset almost every other day, pain in the ass!
Yes I know should send it back but man, who wants to go back to dial up even for a week...

145755 2003-05-21 09:37:00 I sent mine in and it was back the next day. Was told that if I took it to Palmerston North (where they are) that I could get it back that afternoon.
A mate had the same thing but his took a day longer.

145756 2003-05-21 11:41:00 Hi big John

after u have received back ur router from dynalink, do u received any significant improvement??? as u said previously, after installed that, there is no way i wanna go back to 56k for couple of days or even weeks... so that's y i don't wanna bring it to them unless i have to...

so in terms u said previously.. yea one computer actually do take 12k-13.5k of speed, other computer will take slower... so wot happen if for example the speed increased to 256k (example only!!!!), is it the 1st computer also take out a the most of the ratio again and leave the 2nd computer with a very slow speed???

thanks for your explaination!!!

145757 2003-05-22 03:37:00 I took mine in before any problems surfaced. My mate could not even stay online for more than 2 hours without it having to be reset.
As soon as he had the modification done it has been online ever since with no problems at all.

Depends what you want. Reset once per day or send it away and be without for a short time and then not have to worry about it at all.

145758 2003-05-23 09:25:00 I agree with Big John. My 210 is on a JetStream 500 line and connects at 4.7 MBit/s, with typical throughput of 100kBytes/sec. Extra computers on the network downloading simultaneously make no visible difference (except that the lights flash a lot more!).
I sent mine back for the recall and was impressed by the same day turnaround. I doubt that changing a dodgy capacitor would fix your problem though.
