| 145845 | 2003-05-19 23:23:00 | I have just intsalled a 20GB hard drive in an old system (Celeron 500MHz) and when I turn it on it comes up with the message:"Primary master hard disk fail" The new hard drive is being picked up in the BIOS and on the initial boot screen. When I try to boot off the WIN98SE install CD-Rom I get a message telling me that Windows 98 is unable to install due to hard disk incompatability/driver problem. Any suggestions? |

Make sure the jumper on the back of the cable is selected on master, if running another device off the same cable make sure it's on slave. Partitioning/Formatting is not important at this stage as you are going to do that during the Win98SE installation. |
