145776 2003-05-19 11:24:00 how can i ping to see if a email server is working? csinclair83 (200)
145777 2003-05-19 11:37:00 Open up a command prompt (Run> command (or cmd for NT-based PC's)

type:
ping pop3.ihug.co.nz

replace pop3.ihug.co.nz with your pop server.

smtp works too.. but realise that the PC may be up, while the mail software is not!

i got soo annoyed so tried 5 different onces to see if the first one was stuffed..
