146238 2003-05-21 05:30:00 Mouse Properties in the Control Panel of Win98SE has something about handwriting. I just can not make it do anything for me, so does anyone know the secret? PLEASE!!?? Barbara (3620)
146239 2003-05-21 08:29:00 Hi Barbara.

Are you aware that there is a question mark beside the X in the top right corner of the Mouse Properties window?

This is a help feature. If you click on the ? your mouse pointer will have a ? symbol attached to it. Just drag it to any word in the list of pointers, hover it over the word and click. A box will pop up with details about what you have clicked on. Click anywhere after that and the ? will disappear.

The ? appears in quite a few different windows and can be very helpful for a quick reference, however it sometimes tells you very little.

As I don't know the answer to your actual question I will leave that to others who may. My guess is that the listed pointers, including the handwriting pencil/pen one, is for the actual scheme that you have chosen to use, in this case Windows standard, and when you use freehand drawing in a program like ms paint or similar the pointer will show as a pencil/pen.

Cheers :)

146240 2003-05-21 09:24:00 Just as a matter of interest. Is it possible to "Handwrite" directly onto the computer? An electronic pen or something? Poppa John Poppa John (284)
146241 2003-05-22 02:49:00 Stevens black marking pens work well. :D

After all the hooha, you can buy a "tablet" computer. The handwriting "ability" seems to be that you "write' on the screen, and it stores a picture of your writing; that's useless, so don't pay 3.5 K$ for it.

My new toy (a "palm pilot" equivalent has 99.9 % of my handwriting --- it uses Palm OS, and I use its special characters.
