2003-05-21 03:21:00 | Hi , complementary to my PC Doc post -- I accidently downloaded Gator, I had used this program weeks ago and was highly impressed, until I was told it could contain a trojan horse file etc. I had not been too worried at losing it,as I have a time check in Atomic Clock Sync. Now no matter what, I keep getting the blue request on a window to finish the install of this program - about every third time I boot up. In exasperation I completed a down load - so as to be able to uninstall it and be shot of the danger- This was done but blow me down this a.m I got yet another request to install And to pour oil on the fire ---EVERYTHING concerned with Gator was deletewd en masse by spybot --as spyware, anyway!!!!!!! effie c

2003-05-21 04:56:00 | I had a similar problem with someone here at work downloading Gator last month and it refusing to budge. I googled and used the advice given in this thread over on Tek Tips: www.tek-tips.com It's pretty thorough and should do the trick. I noticed also that someone linked to Smart Uninstalled (www.webattack.com) which might be worth a go.

2003-05-21 04:57:00 | That should be the thread (www.tek-tips.com) and Smart Uninstaller (www.webattack.com) | honeylaser (814) | |
2003-05-21 05:03:00 | If all else fails, use jv16 Power Tools, that will will remove via register. That by the way is the way I removed it,so it works.

2003-05-22 22:51:00 | AdAware gets rid of this crap. Just more SpyWare really. The other way is to trace its origin & delete the file out of the folder. Usually in c:\Program Files\Common Files\Gator. Just use Norton Utils WinDoctor or similar to clean it up. If too messy, just try AdAware.

2003-05-23 00:19:00 | Hi Thanks for that which I have received-so far, Amen. I see grounds for a misunderstanding here -- I have quite successfully deleted everything concerned witjh Gator ? Trickler etc - BUT--- I cannot stop Mr Gator still dropping a blue typed invitation to install that which I must have downloaded and said "NO!"to. This morning - as usual there is the website inviation yet again !!! I clicked "NO" and did a "find" search - there were another 10 entries back again - AND THEY WERE ELIMINATED BEFORE!!!! effie c

2003-05-23 00:41:00 | That tells you there elements of gator still in your registry,so if you do as I suggested you can then remove. | Thomas (1820) | |
2003-05-23 01:01:00 | Download and install free program called jv16 powertools. www.jv16.org Use registry tools - tools-registry cleaner. Delete all the items listed. (this will be scary, as prob 100 +) Quite safe. Probably you will find your PC starts quicker as well. | Pheonix (280) | |
