2003-05-22 09:05:00 | In IE6, I get no response when clicking on a PDF or ZIP file attachment. The dialog is not entirely greyed out, but is about half the normal density. Works fine with JPEG files. Acrobat and Winzip are installed. Any ideas please? Dave.

2003-05-22 11:20:00 | Do you have the programs loaded PDF=Adobe Acrobat reader ZIP=Winzip (usually) ? Look under c:\program files | Pheonix (280) | |
2003-05-22 13:55:00 | Sorry, I hit the wrong key. My problem is with Outlook Express Vers six. Winzip 8.1 and Acrobat reader 5.0 are installed and both work OK. But two individual people have e-mailed attachments - one a zip file and the other an acrobat file, neither of which I can access. Clicking on the paper clip opens the dialog but the text is dimmed and doesn't respond to clicking. I can access JPEG files OK. And I"ve just discovered that a zip file I attached to an e-mail I sent recently can't be accessed either, although I can open it from My Documents where I created it to. Dave.

2003-05-22 20:20:00 | In Outlook Express, the security option for preventing the opening of possible harmful files has not/is not ticked is it. Check under Outlook Express > Tools > Options > Security and check to see if there is a tick in the box with a line that reads something like "Prevent Outlook Express from opening attachments that could contain harmful virus's" or something like that. Next thing to look at, have you tried to save the file to say your desktop and open it directly using Acrobat or WinZip. Doesn't have a double extension does it ?

2003-05-22 20:23:00 | Have a look at Tools > Options > Security. Make sure that "Do not allow attachments to be saved....." is not ticked then try again. Good Luck sam m
