146843 2003-05-25 01:04:00 Good post Dyan, and I am sure many others share the same view but have not felt inclined to comment on which I feel is one of the most pathetic threads I have seen for a long time.
The initial post from Billy T was obviously designed to provoke some comment and when it duly arrived there was an immature over reaction from some members who should consider whether they are setting the right type of example for others.
Because someone is a regulator contributor and makes many useful posts does not give them the right to criticise and and make the type of personal comments evident here.
There was nothing posted that justified this type of personal attack from people who seem to think they can control what is posted on a public forum.

There is no need to comment on every point made in a post, there is no need to prove you are right all the time, this is not a competition.
There are many things in life that are annoying, learn to live with them and grow up people.

146846 2003-05-25 01:51:00 Why would one respond to a pathetic thread?

The two well written replys are a puzzle to me,both are objective fellows with full lives, and above all this, why would they bother,or even find the time.

146849 2003-05-25 02:19:00 Jim I love an argument and I don't think you are up to it,Imperative reason be present.;) Thomas (1820)
146850 2003-05-25 02:34:00 Like I originally responded this post earlier

"Whatever"

It was fun, dramatic, inflamitory, comical etc etc etc But not worth the 5 pages of responses.

Veteran forums users (ie those who whore forums other than PF1) will know when to move on. Now is the time....

Tell me about it, Im a teen . . I see worse every day . . this is like a walk in the park for me . . .
As for a Life . . Computers are the Life of many here . . I know I do lots of programming, and PC repairs both hardware and software! People like myself have made a living off computers!
I think that's not the best of comments about enjoying watching the garbage errupt!

Woah . . Hold up nelly!
Staging an online persona? I am all that I seem, in RL and online . . Chat with some people on ICQ or MSN and you'll see that all those who are frequent are one and the same in the forum and out of it!

Those are not 'Heads of Forum' as you might say, rather those who know enough to come back regularly!

Okay . . Was that really neccesary?? I used to work for IDG thankyou . . .

PressF1 - New Zealand's PC World self-help forum
Self help . . does that mean we are all told 'goto google'?
No
Does it mean theres a list of answers to every conceivable question, just pick your problem?
No
Does it mean that people like myself, Billy T, and a range of others are what keeps this place really 'Alive' as such?
I think so!

I dont think that's the most mature of comments that could have been made . .

OC and proud!

I have a lot to share, so if I have a lot of time on my hands between interviews, why not help out others who would be lost without it!
Say Ive made now over 4000 posts . . split it up into 6
lets say Ive made 1/6 posts on myself and my problems
1/6 again on follow ups of my problems (This is being very generous to that here . . i dont have that many PC troubles . . . )
1/6 on posts like this . . .
another 1/6 on follow ups for these . .
1/6 on helping out others . .
1/6 on follow ups for that assitance

Now, work that out, I know I do a heck of a lot more helping out that I do posting on 'OT' threads like this, and I certainly dont spend 1/3 my time posting about my own problems . . probably not even 1/6

So Ive helped well and truely a good 1K odd people with a huge variety in problems in the past 6-7 months!

Why get a life outside??

Well . . I certainly do . . Sound/Vid technician for the local church . . working part-time at the cyber cafe . . . fixing other PC's for clients . . . still maintaining a social life . . .

You do the math!

Cheers

146852 2003-05-25 10:47:00 That's a rather un-christianlike post. I'll be wearing out the knees of my jeans praying for your salvation, Chilling Silently.

Best regards
