146509 2003-05-22 11:39:00 hello......

i have a 15G hdd splitted into 2 equal partitions.

partition1 i installed win2000(Fat32) and in partition2 i installed mandrake 9 (new to linux).

I didnt have any problems installing them, and linux works fast and great. But when i want to boot into win2000, win2000 is extremely slow. everything is so slow. it take a couple of mins just to open my computer.(wasnt like this before I install linux). Why is it that windows become so slow? and how can I fix it??

By the way, pc specs are...
P3 500
256mb sdram

Thanks :)

146510 2003-05-23 00:35:00 You might like to try running a Repair from the Win2K CD :-) Chilling_Silently (228)
146511 2003-05-23 05:21:00 Which might also trash the dual boot. mikebartnz (21)
146512 2003-05-23 10:00:00 u mean if i use win2000 cd to repair it mite trash the dural boot with linux? Blue_face (1148)
146513 2003-05-23 10:05:00 Cant resist this........ my boots are made of leather, not Dural. Dural is an aluminium/copper alloy also used in the aircraft industry Terry Porritt (14)
146514 2003-05-23 21:23:00 Yes, it could do, but Im pretty sure you can specify what parts you want Doze to repair.. maybe that's only with WinXP though.

If you were a clever person when installing, you'll still have your boot disk for Mandrake.

If not, make another.

Should things go wrong and Win2K over-writes your Boot Loader, you can re-install LILO or Grub as the Boot Loader.

Ive done it with RedHat 8 installing Grub again, apparently LILO would have been easier :-)

You're probably best of writing it to the first sector of that partition and then using XOSL to manager your OS's :-)

Hope this helps

Cheers
