147230 2003-05-24 12:40:00 I have a 256mb pc2100 stick of ram in my computer and i was wondering do i need the same type (eg. pc2100) to add? unknown (2981)
147231 2003-05-24 13:42:00 I presume what you mean is you want to add more RAM to your comp and want to know if you need to get PC2100 for the upgrade. If this is the case you dont need to. It depends on what speed (FSB) your motherboard/RAM is running at. This is specified int he BIOS. The speed of your RAM should be equal to or greater than the FSB of your motherboard. PC2100 RAM has a speed of 266MHz. The new RAM you buy should be equal to or greater than the old stuff you have.

Hope that answers your question
