| 146931 | 2003-05-23 21:30:00 | My boss is looking for a lightweight notebook. It seems that the only way to get them really light is to delete anything that is not absolutely essential for the running of the notebook - eg no cd drive, fdd, etc. To me there seems little point deleting these. As soon as you leave home you will find that you need to load something from a cd. Also, the power adapter must weigh .4 - .5 kg and will not be included in their weight specs. It seems that for a realistic package we are looking at 2.5 - 3.5kg. To me this seems pretty light anyway. We are looking at a Toshiba TE2100. Anyone got any comments? |

| 146932 | 2003-05-24 11:19:00 | I reckon Toshiba are the kings of the lightweights. Here are the weights for my Portege 3490CT Computer 1330g Power pack 205g Floppy drive 245g CD Rom 430g (Not Toshiba) Port replicator 320g (ps2,usb,lan,snd,serial, parallel, video) Total weight 2505g The computer has a built in modem port so file transfer by email is possible, plus IR transfer is available. Larger screen sizes would be heavier but for travelling they will still be much lighter than a fully loaded road warrior deluxe. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
