147176 2003-05-24 11:02:00 I am setting up Outlook on a new PC and am using XP Pro OS. When I open Outlook I do not get the connection prompt. How can I get this to come up when opening Outlook or Internet Explorer Muzz (1286)
147177 2003-05-24 11:16:00 Open up Internet explorer, go tools>internet options>connections (a TAB)
then tick "dial whenever a network connection is not present."
Just checking too, you mean Outlook Express? (as microsoft also has another e-mail program called Outlook.(notice no Express))

147179 2003-05-24 11:26:00 After doing what Phoenix suggested, did it work.

What version of Outlook.

147180 2003-05-24 11:36:00 Being XP it is likely to be Outlook Express xp version

You can try using the IE [Internet Explorer] preferences.

If you want special preferences for OE try:

Tools > accounts > Mail Tab > click account you want to change > properties > Connection > change as required.

147181 2003-05-24 12:09:00 They have said they are using Outlook not Outlook Express

Got to Tools/accounts/View or change and click Next
In Email Accounts click on Change
Click on More settings near the bottom
Click on Connection Tab
Select - Connect using my phone line and select your ISP connection in the box underneath

147182 2003-05-24 12:16:00 Sorry you could be right. I have known people to confuse MS Outlook Express with MS Outlook, and to be honest I am not sure which it is [I should have highlighted solutions for both]. Not sure if the DUN connection is the one they want though. Which is desired?

Oh btw what you have mentioned is for Outlook XP which is different than earlier versions [incase the person trying to change this is getting confused, although its similair to say MS Outlook 2k]
