147417 2003-05-25 10:24:00 I have windows XP home edition that is still under warranty.
I have trouble most of the time with the modem not disconnecting properly unless the computer is turned off.
Can anyone help?

147419 2003-05-25 10:55:00 Hi there,
After disconnecting from my computer, I have had trouble getting my phone to work. (the phone line is dead) and when people try to phone me they get the engaged tone. I have had the line tested and the problem has been with the modem not disconnecting properly. If I shut down the computer the phone works.

147420 2003-05-25 10:59:00 This will be due to a problem with the modem itself.
You will need to get it checked and possibly replaced.

What OS are you using, what modem (brand/model/number), are you using a dialer, fax software, etc, ?.

If you hit Ctrl + Alt + Del is rnaap there in task manager. What happens if you end task on rnaap.

147422 2003-05-26 09:51:00 Sorry but that message from Murray was beyond me. I don't even know what sort of modem I have. (its an internal one)

I phoned a technician at PC Company today and told him my problem and he got me to uninstall the modem and then install it again. It seems to be working ok at the moment but time will tell.

The warranty expires in September and I wonder if it should be looked at anyway, I would expect there to be a reason why this happened and therefore it could quite possibly happen again.

I would rather it be fixed properly or replaced before the warranty runs out.
Anyone got an opinion?
