147958 2003-05-27 10:49:00 Hello there, thank you for replying....... We are on windows me, on an Hp pavilion 8802, and my husband has had a clean out of all the unimportant rubbish that we have not been using.... that has been slowing us down...... removed an old active desktop wallpaper... and the message came up with Runtime error Program C:\Windows\RUNDLL 32EXE ABNORMAL PROGRAM TERMINATION. 147959 2003-05-27 10:55:00 Have you disable active desktop??? (Properties > web tab) Also what happens when you close that message down??? stu140103 (137)
147960 2003-05-27 11:01:00 Stu, an 8802 probably doesn't have an active desktop option, it came out running Windows 95 SR2.

It seems that in the exuberance to "clean out" you have deleted some essential windows files.
Perhaps, as a real way to boost the system back to its original speed (266 MHz Celeron, and they did go very well) you might consider saving all your essential data onto a box of floppy disks, and reload the system from scratch using the restore CD that came with it?

147962 2003-05-27 11:05:00 hello godfather, Yes that has crossed our minds....Have not yet done this as thought it maybe a last ditch solution... THUNDERACE (3885)
147963 2003-05-27 11:08:00 You will be amazed at the return to full speed, thats hard to achieve any other way. I would recommend it be done once a year at least, it also cultivates good data management and backup habits.

The 8802 is still a very good PC for Internet and wordprocessing. They actually have a good modem in them as well.
Highly reliable, and worth a "start from scratch" approach.
