147696 2003-05-26 22:36:00 In the last few days i have received 2 amazing offers from Nigeria on my personal email account, and 8 spams on my pugwash@eudoramail account.

This is a quarter of what i would normally expect!

Has anyone else noticed a sudden drop in spam, or is it my lucky week?

147697 2003-05-26 22:54:00 One of my hotmail accounts that I've had for years must be taking all your SPAM away, because I know I still get the 50 or so a day. The weird thing is, I've got the spam filter on but it never works. However my other hotmail which is only under a year old has the spam filter on and it has been able to junk most of it. I don't understand why the newer one works better than the older one. Kame (312)

pugwash@eudoramail.com is an excersize in attracting spam for automatic deletion. I'm sure its on every major spammer database now. Thats why i'm surprised that it is getting so little.

147700 2003-05-26 23:26:00 Ive been using the same hotmail account for around 7 years now, and Ive never gotten more than maybe 1 or 2 spam mails a day. If you use mail blocking as well as your Junk filter, you can actually remove ALMOST all spam. You just have to remember to block the domain of any spams that get through the filter, and then youll never get any from them again. If you get really desperate, then set the account to automatically forward to another address and you get double the blocked senders list.

147701 2003-05-26 23:52:00 I've used the blocking feature and have filled it up (500 max) I then removed the list again and did it over again expecting the same domains not to show up. It did stop them but there's not enough to block it all. Kame (312)
147702 2003-05-27 00:57:00 I should have known that this was too good to be true.

I just tested the pugwash@eudoramail.com account by emailing myself. Sadly that hasn't come through either, so it would appear that there are just plain delays in the mail rather than less spam. :(

It was a nice illusion

147703 2003-05-27 05:15:00 At my hotmail account: Spam up the wazoo
At my IDG account: Spam up the wazoo
At my home account: Zippo spam. Nada. Not one. Seriuously, never had it.

The difference? I never ever ever ever post my home email address anywhere. I use my Hotmail account for any online registrations (apart from a few like the Day of Defeat forums that refuee to accept free email addresses). Even so I'm lucky that it hasn't been harvested via exploits of other's Outlook address books.

147704 2003-05-27 10:15:00 Oh how I wish I could say the same, unfortunately back in the glory days when I was an innocent on the net, I signed up to all in sundry, for years this meant nothing more than the occasional spam once or twice a week, well how times have changed I'm now up to 70 to 80 a day!!! I use mailwasher (a kiwi invention) to help deal with it though and it does prety well.

I can bear to stop using that address though I've had it 7 years and don't want to part with it

147705 2003-05-27 10:19:00 i tossed pugwash@ihug.co.nz for that reason, and sadly it was written all over all my gear, and even on my dog tag..
