148226 2003-05-29 00:27:00 hi all,
I am probably going to answer my own question but I need to know if there is another way.

I was due for a reinstal of XP Pro to clean out nearly full 40Gb hard drive. I have done this before so was prepared but for one thing. I have now lost my 56k modem. This is the 2nd install of XP and I know the first time I did it XP did find my modem. It is an internal PCI v.90 that has been installed since day 1. The OS instal has located all hardware except the modem. Is there a simple way for me to get the computer to recognise that the modem is connected. I am going to guess that I have to pull the modem card out and reinstall again but will that work?

BTW I use adsl but need the modem for faxing.

thanks

you were both right *phew* I looked under modem in the device driver but it was connected under 'other devices'. I had saved drivers to disk before instal so simple after that. I can now put this screwdriver back. Thanks again guys.
