| 148112 | 2003-05-28 02:39:00 | this grandaddy needs to upgrade from the 3d Blaster Banshee to one that will run Comanche4, B17, for my Granson on my PII X 400 Bear in mind that next year i will be building a new machine and want to use it then Can get a GeFirce MX 440 for $95 (INC) is it worth it? Any suggestions? |

| 148113 | 2003-05-28 03:21:00 | um....for that puter(which i presume doesn't have an agp slot) then yes,a g4mxpci is your best bet but id say the system still wont be capable of running Comanche4(if its the heicopter game released about 8 months ago then it needs a modern system to run it). I wouldn't suggest buying a video card for that system with the intention of using it in a newer one,you will be limiting the new system by far far far to much. |

Either by taking a peek inside or by the motherboard name/model, you should be able to tell. If you don't, it may be advisable to wait for your upgrade time and get it then. On the Commanche4 box (in small letters) it specs a card DirectX 8.0 or better which is not mentioned on any of the cards. will they support the Direct 9.++ version next year? I see that PCWorld mag recommended G4mx440 in Nov 2002 tested on Comanche4 |

| 148117 | 2003-05-28 23:36:00 | ok AGP 8X = 2.1 GB/s transfer AGP 4X = half that Geforce 4 MX = Home user, internet, pictures, home movie editing Geforce 4 Ti (Titanium) = Gamer, High end 3D graphics Basically you'll need something better than a Geforce 4 MX to play games and please do not get a PCI graphics card. You'll need a AGP card in order to get a noticable difference over your old card. You cant expect to buy a video card and expect it to speed up the game. There are other factors e.g System bus. Your system is probally running at 100mhz fsb as oppose to the P4's which run at 533mhz fsb. Also memory. You should save your money and get a good graphics card with your new computer. I'd also suggest looking at the ATI Radeon's. The Radeon 9500/9700 should be ample for what your looking for. |

| 148118 | 2003-05-28 23:41:00 | Oh the geforce 4 Ti's and MX's all support DX 8.1 - the geforce FX's and Radeons 9700 pro support DX 9.0 but cost a lot. If you've got money to burn get a Radeon 9700pro with your new computer. |
