148201 2003-05-29 06:58:00 Ah.. but that was describing the lives of the upper classes, where it was all cough, cough and discreet with false exaggerated modesty and frequent blushing, no doubt brought on by tight corsetry :)

Among the hoi-polloi it was a different matter, especially at harvest time in the country, but you're right, I suppose only the upper classes had horse carriages. Get into the back seat of a pony and trap and you'd be in danger of falling out onto the road :D

It is interesting also, how each new generation think they invented hanky panky :)

148203 2003-05-29 10:46:00 That wouldn't be "seven little girls sitting in the back seat, kissing and a huggin' with Fred" would it?
A great song!

The problem I have is my 1920s/30s music partition has 3.05Gb of tunes and streaming audio 'programs'. At 500KB per 3 minutes side of 78 rpm record that means about 6000 tunes. Since I dont catalogue very carefully, trying to remember just where a particular song is, is an enormous mental feat, also many tunes were originally recorded as just tune1.ra, tune2.ra under a particular orchestra.

It may have been a George Olsen Orchestra recording, and it had the words Tin Lizzie in the chorus.

By the time I find it, this thread will have long been buried :)

148205 2003-05-30 20:58:00 There was no Audio news this moaning at the link given above, I had to go for the Video news that was great, the picture would freeze up from time to time, it went for about 30 minutes, I clicked on to "click here to get rid of index" and the whole thing shut down I had to start over and catch up to were I drooped out.

It will be only a matter of time before my TV crokes it, and it will be a very happy no more TV1, 2, 3, or 4, then I can look for better things on Internet.

Why don't you just leave the TV off, or get rid of it if you find TV1,2,3,4 so ruddy obnoxious. Ther is no obligation to switch your TV on. Go read a book or whatever, doh

The TV set dosen't switch on by itself. Come on

I do read a book, and I do walk to work, and I do take a bus ride, and I do eat breakfast and I do eat lunch and I do . . . . . go for a . . . . . .

But it would be nice to unwind for say just 30 minutes each night and watch something funny like, Dad's army, On the buses, get smart, and a lot of other stupid and funny comedy's that came out at the same time, and Dr who .

SKY have screwed us, there customers are a joke they come to us all the time and think we should run around them for nothing, we say to them "if you are having problems with sky, why don't you go back to sky" then they say "Oh no they charge a arm and the leg" we think "come on give us a break"

EXTERMINATE !! EXTERMINATE !! EXTERMINATE !! EXTERMINATE !! EXTERMINATE !! EXTERMINATE !! EXTERMINATE !! EXTERMINATE !!
sky customers .

Well Joe, try as I might, I don't see anything in E.ric's post that says he finds TV obnoxious. Like many others, perhaps he chooses to limit TV to a few favourite programs and spend his free time on other pursuits.

On the other hand, I think your response is best described through your own "ruddy obnoxious" words. I mean: Doh, your computer didn't switch on by itself to post a reply. Come on:p

Cheers

err-hum Billy, E.ric said "he would be very happy when his TV croaked and no more TV1,2,3,4" - as an observer, I assumed he was being dismissive of the dross dished up for his viewing. That is why I said he didn't need to switch the "ruddy" TV on. I don't watch TV, and that is exactly what I did many months ago.
