148654 2003-05-30 18:43:00 I run Windows ME and OE v6.0.

I very often get the message with certain attachments that "OE removed access to the following unsafe attachment in your mail". Mind you that's a lot of rubbish because I simply click on forward and then I can view the attachment, though it is annoying and time-wasting.

Checking my settings on OE, I see that in Tools/Options/Security we have the box ticked saying "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that potentially could be a virus" It seems that I should untick (or actually un-dot) that box. Would this be the best course of action please ?

148655 2003-05-30 19:06:00 yes, untick the box and apply common sense and good AV practices when opening attachments.
OE doesn't know if the attachments contain a virus and assumes the user is unable to take protection, and applies that setting by default.
