148533 2003-05-30 05:19:00 Can I partition my hard drive without having to re-format my hard drive, and what is the best way to do this, and with what software.
I am currently running windows xp and would like to have a version of linux as well.
Thanks

Yes it is possible to non-destructively (re)partition your harddrive(s) by using a software product such as PartitionMagic see PowerQuest - PM (www.powerquest.com) for information on this product

Cheers, Babe.

148535 2003-05-30 10:15:00 Partition Magic 7 or 8 would do the trick bothare fairly reliable kiwibeat (304)
148536 2003-05-31 04:19:00 However good the partitioning software, accidents do happen. They happen most to people who think that partitioning a "live" disk is easy and trivial. It's a dangerous operation. One mistake can lose the lot.

So read the instructions. :D If you don't understand them, ask.
