148832 2003-05-31 13:38:00 Hi, I would like to download some of the files from jetstreamgames and files.paradise.net.nz using the full jetstream speed.

I've heard of other people downloading linux distributions etc as well as listening to radio using jetstream speed as well. I can't seem to do it.

I can log in fine, but when I click on a file to download it from IE/opera it won't download it. It just times out.

I'm on paradise JetStart.
Whats some practical 1,2,3 steps so I can download some files! :)

Thanks.

148833 2003-05-31 15:37:00 Ok. User name = user@jetstreamgames.co.nz Password = **Nothing**. Then go to ftp://jetstreamgames.co.nz and go from there. I dont know about the music and don't think you will be able to do paradise files... JamesStewart (874)
148834 2003-05-31 20:20:00 Hello from my experience of this isp with the same connection and feature and downloading those linux distros you mention ;) i would say this:

You will need to connect with a different username and password.

From my experience i have changed it from myusername@paradise.net.nz with mypassword to myusername@jetstreamgames.co.nz with mypassword then connected with it and it has worked.

Please note: when you log in with the account for jetstreamgames while you have a much faster connection than is typical for jetstart for the files there and game access you WILL NOT be able to access other domains or websites.

If recollection serves me well this also applies to the paradise server. Let me spell it out further: if your using the username@jetstreamgames.co.nz then you will not afaik have higher speed access to the paradise server.

To return access to normal you will need to enter your old username and password and reconnect.

Sorry i cannot give you 1,2,3 steps because you may have a multitude of different devices to connect and to state them all would be perhaps may be time innefficient for both me to type and you to read + also the fact i dont know everything or most thats on the market, i would assume most people know but a fraction which i think includes me.

148835 2003-06-01 06:02:00 Yeah I'm on a dynalink RTA300 ADSL Router.

I have been able to login successfully using my paradise login and paradise password, though Im still not sure about downloading the files.

My friend says he can get all the files from paradise at full speed? I guess that includes most of the game patches...

148836 2003-06-01 06:08:00 okay well for the files try opening

http://www.jetstreamgames.co.nz

Or better yet use an ftp program, say WSFTP lite from www.download.com and access:

ftp://ftp.jetstreamgames.co.nz

Full speed is a bit hard to quantify. To my present understanding jetstream starter goes at 128KB Up/Down. However when logging on witht the jetstream username you may be capable of faster such as 6-8MBps [1Mbps=1000bps [Note: ususally you round to 1024 instead of 1000 due to the binary system but there can be some exceptions].

It will depend on what all the units in the chain of supply can handle. TYpical tule applies: a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. The weakest link may for example by some people called a bottleneck due to the constrictive nature illustration of a bottleneck over a bottle.

148837 2003-06-01 06:09:00 Please note also the download speed and upload speed are different. From my present understanding on say a more fully utilised speed you may expect 8MBps for e.g. download while say 800Kbps upload. Captive (3159)
