1339202 2013-05-01 03:45:00 Hi Team

I have two addresses automatically coming up when I type a particular contact's name . One is correct and the other is misspelt .

Outlook autofills the correct address and the incorrect one is a second choice below, but once in a blue moon I accidentally tick too low on the address I want and hit the wrong one instead (typically when rushing out the door to attend an appointment), so then the email bounces back, which delays that email somewhat until I return and realise eventually what has happened .

I did it again today, so I finally decided to deleted the incorrect entry, but that seems easier said than done, and I'm buggered if I can find where it is stored or how to erase it!

My contacts list shows only the correct addrress, which I can edit at will, and every other avenue I followed leads to a dead end .

How do I escape this cycle?

Cheers

How to remove nickname cache entries, one at a time
Outlook 2010

Open a new email message .
Type the first few characters of the nickname cache entry that you want to remove from the cache .
When the entry appears in the list of suggested names, move your mouse pointer over the name until it becomes highlighted, but do not click the name .
When the “X” icon appears next to the highlighted name, click X to remove the name from the list .

Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003

Open a new email message .
Type the first few characters of the nickname cache entry that you want to remove from the cache .
When the entry appears in the list of suggested names, use the UP and DOWN arrow keys on your keyboard to select the entry, and then press DELETE on your keyboard .

That worked a treat. Why do they make these things so obscure!

Surely it would have been simpler if it could have been deleted when highlighted in the normal course of events?

1339205 2013-05-01 18:28:00 As said on the post above; type the first few characters, scroll to the one you want to delete, and press Delete. Works in Outlook 2010 as well

We use 2010 at work, and quite often we get people who leave/change roles within the company; so I get to practice this regularly :D

1339206 2013-05-01 23:05:00 Start typing, when it comes up press delete key....not sure I would call that obscure :P Maybe it's one of those easy when you know how things. Alex B (15479)
