1339059 2013-04-30 08:53:00 I'm trying to use a friend's Acer Inspire Win7 (SP1) laptop to access the Internet. The T-stick should've auto installed the software for it to run but didn't, as was the case when I used simial T-stick on my own Vista machine. I solved the problem with my machine by downloading the software from zte.co.nz, and tried the same this time, to no avail.

The Connect Me software runs, the laptop recognises it, but when I click on the Connect button (once its ready of course) it dulls briefly, then waits to be re-clicked.

I've uninstalled the software, reinstalled a couple of times, tried another stick that worked in my own machine, and no success. I've tried playing trial and error with all the possible settings.

Any advice please?

I thought mine showed up as a removable drive with the software on it but looking just now it has a letter but can't be accessed. Maybe that was just when the drivers are not installed.
Can't help much though, this one just works.

1339062 2013-04-30 11:51:00 Yeah it lights up. I reinstalled it again, using the slightly more recent software, did the online checks Speedy put me onto, and can't make head or tail of it. Greg (193)

1339064 2013-04-30 12:07:00 Do you have a smart phone that takes the same SIM as your data stick? It is worth checking that the SIM is still working.
The ZTE software is notoriously unreliable. Have you tried completely removing the driver & application before installing the latest version?

I had similar problem with both vodapho ne and telecom T sticks and found the only way i could get a connection was to go to the start menu/networks and then press connect on the icom (right click). I put this down to h/d encryption. It only started operating correctly after a clean install of the o/s

1339066 2013-05-01 04:56:00 Thanks Piva and Greven. Covered those potential problems. I'm now pretty sure its a Services issue (errors 1068 - ICS - and 711 - RACM). Greg (193)
1339067 2013-05-01 05:00:00 Those errors may mean this (support.microsoft.com) and this (support.microsoft.com)

Have you disabled any services under services, or under msconfig?

Thanks - Yep, yep and sadly, yep. Did some suggested reg changes, no luck. Will try a few more things, but not toooo fussed - it's only to use on my friend's machine while I'm fixing a few other issues with it, and she never uses a T-stick. And of course I'll be using my own machine when I get my replacement power adaptor.
