1339330 2013-05-02 05:29:00 Is it bus powered or does it have its own separate supply?

I distinctly remember answering this, I wonder what happened to it?
The drive is bus powered.

1339331 2013-05-02 05:33:00 On the subject of Hubs, I've had various types fail on me over the years, so if you must use a hub (I'm not going to crawl under my desk everytime I want to plug in something different, and I don't use the front ports) what is the current recommended brand?

Cheers

Sorry I don't understand the last part, "what is the current recommended brand?"

1339332 2013-05-02 05:58:00 Is the enclosure USB 2 or 3?? And is the port USB 2 or 3?? You may have to get a power adapter if it has the connection Speedy Gonzales (78)

To give the answers as I Know them. The disk drive is USB3, as per the user manual. It doesn't have any connector except USB, unfortunately.
The guy who made the computer said that it does not have USB3, though.
I would like to change that if I can afford it any time soon. They say it is 3 times as fast as USB2!

I would like to double up on the Solid State internal Drive as well it is only 120GB.
[Imagine what all this would have sounded like 10 years ago!]

If manufacturers could just make things that work right.

1339335 2013-05-02 07:43:00 I have reported your post which I find as offensive as your first one was useless. Your question had been answered in my original post.Yeah, we got the message so you don't need to repeat sending it thanks. I have edited out the offending comments. Jen (38)
1339336 2013-05-02 09:27:00 Now just about every day it goes off line and has to be disconnected and re-connected before it will work, though yesterday it came back on line when the computer was restarted.
When it goes off line, is it while you may be using the computer for example, or is the computer going into Sleep mode, or left for any length of time unattended ??

The reason for asking is when a computer goes into sleep mode or power saving modes, some USB ports /devices are turned off to save power.

A device that has its own external power supply EG a printer, generally will power up again on its own, but a USB device like your External HDD that's plugged in to a USB port and relies on the USB power to run sometimes wont wake up till its either unplugged and plugged back in or the computer rebooted ( restores power back to USB ports.)

1339337 2013-05-02 10:18:00 I have 4 of the MyPassport USB3 HDDs. The first one 1TB the others 2TB. I had trouble with the 1TB which mostly came right when I got rid of the crapware and reformatted. It still doesn't always eject but that could be indexing or something.

The other 3 work fine. I never did install the crapware on these ones. They eject fine, but this could be due to the material on them/lack of library updating/indexing/whatever

I use the front and rear USB3 ports (4 x USB3) without problems

1339338 2013-05-02 21:44:00 Its your Hub, don't use it, plug straight back into the BACK of your PC. Sorted. Chilling_Silence (9)
1339339 2013-05-02 22:34:00 It could also be a lack of power as others have suggested, USB 3 can supply more power than USB 2 does. Often drives have a y cable supplied or have a second connector for extra power, does yours? dugimodo (138)
