| 1314279 | 2012-11-23 19:01:00 | Missus wants new mobile for Xmas. She wants a smart phone. Likely to use phone, TeXt, mobile web, email, mp3, Google Nav, at a guess. Any recs ? Don't mind signing up to a lower cost contract if it helps. Currently with vf but looking at 2d as a better option. Look forward to some suggestions, cheers |

| 1314282 | 2012-11-23 20:34:00 | Two things NZ has a problem with in the electronics sector in general. Ridiculously overpriced devices and ridiculously crappy ones. One huge problem with android (and user experiences) is they often get massively let down by awful cheap devices. I have no experience with the Mini 2 chill listed although a year or so back I had a galaxy 5. Pig awful to use after having an Galaxy S but on the whole it wasn't too bad. I know it's Christmas and this could potentially break you but would she be happy with a 2nd hand unit? Several nice HTC One V units on trademe for a buy now of a little over 300. atm goo.gl . Buying for yourself is probably fine but not so sure 2nd hand present would go down well with the missus! As far as using it goes, if you are on prepay vodafones version of telecom's $19 prepay plan is the best value for money. Gets you about 50 mins calling some ridiculously huge number of texts and a few hundred mb of data (plenty for a phone) its better value than anything voda list on their site, even on contract. Just goes to show how warped our pricing is! |
