Be unlikely the driver could afford it. Do the Germans who built the BMW pay it? Or do the taxpayer pay it?

1313541 2012-11-20 01:35:00 I would expect the at-fault drivers' insurance to pay it, assuming he has insurance. inphinity (7274)

1313544 2012-11-20 02:30:00 "Ben Browne, QC for Norton’s insurer, said of the award: ‘While it is a lot of money, Agnes’s needs are great and she needs those for the rest of her life.’ "

Sounds like the insurer to me

1313545 2012-11-20 02:36:00 I think the award is ridiculous.
Sure she needs the yearly amount to live no problem there.
And a few hundred thousand to set her up initially again no issue.
Maybe there is also a case for some personal money ok 2 -3 Mil

No way is this worth a 7mil lump sum, Sounds like the Brits are going as court-crazy as the Yanks.

I am sure you would change your tune if it was you in her position.

1313547 2012-11-20 04:00:00 You are right.
For that kind of money I would be happy to be a hypocrite.

1313548 2012-11-20 06:43:00 Well if the Americans can shut down a business in another country for providing a legal service, which others used for illegal purposes then on that case study alone BMW should pay gary67 (56)
1313549 2012-11-20 09:04:00 What the participants get or pay matters little With appeals and other sundries it should rightly all go in legal fees. R2x1 (4628)
