149365 2003-06-03 04:01:00 Many computer mags (eg APC) include a copy of Linux on their cover disks.

If you just want a copy, there is:

http://www.copyleft.co.nz/
https://www.drfloppy.co.nz/

Or you could try your nearest Linux User Group:

http://www.lug.net.nz/

Or you could download the disk images from the company/group that makes them & burn them if your very patient.

Or someone on this group might run you off a copy.

If you want to buy a supported copy you could try a company, eg:

http://www.redhat.com/
www.mandrakelinux.com
http://www.lycoris.com/

Or a local computer store might have a copy. Dick smith sell Mandrake, but they are usually old versions.

149367 2003-06-03 05:00:00 I noticed my local bookshop had a wee booklet with a CD set for Mandrake 9 Linux. $18 or so. This is one of those booklets which apear in tha magaziibne section of bookshops. Looks OK.

You don't want a "real' Unix. The industrial strength ones are not as nice to new users. :D (I believe Sun give away the X86 version of their SunOS Unix for private use).

149369 2003-06-03 08:27:00 I use Solaris at work, and as Graham says it's "not as nice to new users" :) I know pretty much all I need to use on it and nothing else... nasty piece of equipment :) LOL I'd love to learn more though, but I guess it's not something I'll ever need (or even have).
