149224 2003-06-02 05:02:00 I want to know the easiest way to get my mail through Outlook Express at someone else's computer - I know you can do it through your ISP but I prefer to use Outlook as it is much quicker and easier. Would it be through making another Account and putting in my settings or Switch Identity? If so, how do I do it? And does the other user have to be on the same provider as me for this to happen? Who gets charged at the time of receiving/sending the mail from another computer? Any other help would be appreciated. dutchie (3928)

This would probably be your easiest way - although if the other user has a different ISP, you will only be able to receive and not send emails via OE.

You will need to create a new identity. In OE go to File > Identities > Add New Identity. Enter your name and click OK (make sure default identity is not selected for your name). Then go back to File > switch Identities > select your name. OE will switch to your user name and a wizard will leap up. Just go through the steps (you will need your ISP pop and smtp settings).

The persons whose internet connection is running will be charged.

You could alway create a new dial up connection for your ISP. Connect and then open up your identity in OE. You will then be able to receive and send emails as you will be going thru your ISP and not the other users.

Just remember to remove that dial up connection when you are finished (delete it if necessary), to ensure no one uses your connection without your permission.

If you have any further questions - please ask :)

149227 2003-06-02 06:36:00 The other posts have given you the options but to clarify a few things.

I would not suggest you set up a mail account, new identity or even a dialup connetion on someone elses computer as there is every chance that your password might be saved accidently and the other person could use your dialup connection or access your email.

It would be much better for you to use your ISP webmail as then mail is not removed from the server and you will be able to receive all mail into your inbox of your own computer even if you have accessed it with webmail.

If you set up a mail account on another computer and you do not set this account to leave mail on server you will have mail on this computer which you will be unable to access from your other one.

If you do set up a new identity on the other computer you can still send mail from this account if you use the Outgoing mail server address (SMTP) of the ISP the owner is connected to.
The charge in this case is to the owner of the computer as you will be dialing in and connecting with their connection.

If you do not want any costs to go to the owner of the computer you would need to setup a dialup connection with your own ISP settings but as mentioned I don't believe this is a reasonable thing to do.

Use Web Mail, that is what it is there for. It will save you and this other person a lot of confusion.

149228 2003-06-02 07:50:00 Thank you Muzzer, Jen C and Jim B for answering my query. After reading Jim B's response, I will not set one up as it could get a bit of a problem. I will just try and be patient with my web mail from my ISP. Thanks guys. dutchie (3928)
