149706 2003-06-04 07:33:00 I have done some C programming and am trying to learn visual basic, however I'm not sure about syntax and I don’t have a syntax reference here.

Anyway how would I make this work; Private Sub Command1_Click()
Shell "xyz.exe <data_from_text2.text_here> <data_from_text2.text_here>", vbHide
End Sub

Cheers

Liam

149707 2003-06-04 07:50:00 without actually trying it should be something like:

Shell " xyz.exe " & data_from_text2.text & " " & data_from_text2.text, vbHide

149708 2003-06-04 08:28:00 I'm not a pro/and i've probly miss read question but wouldn't it be

Shell " xyz.exe " & " text1.text " & text2.text " , vbHide

if text1 and text 2 are command switches you may want to add a space

Shell " xyz.exe " & " " & " text1.text " & " " & " text2.text " , vbHide

149709 2003-06-04 11:44:00 Well this is what I ended up with.

Shell " net send " & recipent1.Text & " " & message.Text, vbHide

I'll post the app I made in a min.

149711 2003-06-04 11:55:00 ...Nice.. But it would be easier if the one button send it to All the IP's... perhaps an extra 'Send All' button :-) Chilling_Silently (228)
149712 2003-06-04 11:59:00 nz_liam,

149713 2003-06-04 12:08:00 For NT-Based PC's Babe Ruth.. Net Send's messages across a LAN :-) Chilling_Silently (228)
149714 2003-06-04 12:16:00 Chill,

All NT-based systems here (well mostly apart from some oddball *nix systems), but if all the program does is use the nt messenger service then tough luck on this lan then... thought it was doing something 'unique' :-)

Ah well... never mind

Cheers, Babe.

Yep, exactly as Chilling said, it is basically a gui for the Win NT net.exe program, which allows you to send messages over a network among other things.
