2003-06-05 12:19:00 | Right now Im wanting to setup WinRoute Lite.. Ive got it installed and am forwarding incoming connections from port 20 to my networked PC - 192.168.0.2 which is running the FTP Server... Only problem is.. It wont pass it on?! How do I set it up? From there I have a no-ip.com account I'll be using.. but for now.. I just want the thing to go! Even connecting from a 3rd LAN PC to the Gateway should forward on the packets, but it doesnt.. Why? Thanks Chilling_Silence BTW - I tried the same app by Analogue X - PortMapper.. didnt work either. Gateway's running WinXP Pro. Cheers

2003-06-05 12:25:00 | Just thought I'd say there's no Firewall on the Gateway, nor on the Linux box at ALL.. NONE.... That'll come when this project is actually up and running... And I can connect DIRECTLY (eg ftp://192.168.0.2) to the FTP server from all 3 PC's on the LAN... 192.168.0.1,2 and 4 (3 was my laptop.. ;-)) Any ideas people? Im connected on a regular Joe Bloggs Dial-Up, and I get the error message from an external source connecting to my no-ip.com account, or my 3rd PC connecting to my no-ip.com account... or the 3rd PC connecting to the Gateway's IP for that matter. And yes, No-IP.com say that you CAN use the No-IP address to host an FTP server! Cheers Chilling_Silence

2003-06-06 00:59:00 | are you using ICS????? on the Win XP computer???? | stu140103 (137) | |
2003-06-06 01:04:00 | also how is your network setup???? | stu140103 (137) | |
2003-06-06 01:34:00 | Okay, here's how it goes: Gateway PC = 192.168.0.1 = P933mhz WinXP Pro with ICS, No Firewall, hosting WinRoute Lite <Switch> FTP Server = 192.168.0.2 = AMD1700 RedHat Linux 9, No Firewalls or anything of the likes, hosting VSFTPD on Port 21. And also on the switch is: Client PC for Surfing = 192.168.0.4 = TABCVid Win2K Pro, just plays WinAmp and surf's when the family wants to use more than one PC :-)

2003-06-06 01:40:00 | If you are using ICS then you will not be able to use run a FTP server :( You will need a router I know this because I was trying to set-up a HTTP & ftp severs myself with ICS( or a switch) & it does not work :(

2003-06-06 01:41:00 | try moving the FTP server next to the gateway computer, it shoud work | stu140103 (137) | |
2003-06-06 01:42:00 | You're running ICS and WinRoute Lite? I thought WinRoute was meant to be like a replacement for ICS. You could try adjusting the advanced settings for ICS to allow access to ftp servers on other computers on the network. | -=JM=- (16) | |
2003-06-06 02:22:00 | Ah, you mean in the connection properties for my Dial-Up? Im at work right now, I'll check when I get home! Thanks
