| 150558 | 2003-06-07 05:53:00 | I've installed OpenOffice from the CD in June's PC World. Now, when I double-click on a Word file in Windows Explorer, files open in OpenOffice. How can I get them to open in Word? | edent (3967) | ||
| 150559 | 2003-06-07 06:22:00 | Hi edent You need to change the file association for .doc so that it will open up with Word again. You can find clear instructions here: PressF1 FAQ Changing File Associations (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) Cheers Jen |

| 150561 | 2003-06-07 06:24:00 | For precise details, will need to know your operating system. Generally, open up "my computer" and go tools>folder options>file types and scroll down the list for the DOC extension and by the heading "opens with" click change. remove open office and change to microsoft word. | Pheonix (280) | ||
| 150562 | 2003-06-07 06:25:00 | This will depend on your version of Windows, but it should work. If you have Windows 98 (or older), click View > Folder Options in Windows Explorer. Click on the 'File Types' tab. If you have Windows 2000, ME, or XP, open the Control Panel and click 'Folder Options' or Tools > Folder Options in Windows Explorer, and select the 'File Types' tab. Scroll down the list until you get to "Microsoft Word Document" (it's alphabetically sorted). Select it, then click on the 'Edit' button. Under the area headed by "Actions:", select the bold command 'Open' and click the 'Edit' button once more. Then, under the "Application used to perform action", type in ""C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE"", or whatever the path to your Microsoft Office Word applications is (you should also be able to get away with just typing "winword.exe" in there). Click 'OK' on all the dialogs, and then try double clicking on a .doc file. It should be opened with Microsoft Word. |
