2003-06-11 09:30:00 | At the risk of labouring my earlier point - anyone using JetStream Starter is doing so by personal choice, so trying to blame Telecom for restricting the speed to 128 kBit/s is misguided. | stevee (1780) | |

Yes, but the full-speed Jetstream MB limits are simply ridiculous. I mean 500MB??? I could get through 500MB at Jetstream speed in about half an hour - and I couldn't download many Linux CDs either. |

2003-06-11 23:28:00 | Is the limit for most 500Megs? Damn that's useless for anything! Why would you want JetStream if the limit is 500Megs? To be honest, JetStream Stater would be a better option, coz at 500 megs you'll go over that in a single ISO download.. If you're just surfing.. then 500 megs is fine, but the speed is overkill, so 128Kbps (Hopefully soon 256) would be more than enough! I never knew the JetStream limit was so low... although Im sure you can get higher usage plans... But 500Megs? Im with Flyer590.. that's not even half a RedHat/Mandrake distro! Heck, that's not even a Knoppix CD! Any word back CYaBro?

2003-06-12 05:12:00 | The only other full-speed Jetstream plan is 1000MB unless you go with business Jetstream | flyer590 (2523) | |
2003-06-12 06:33:00 | Yeah, I called the number I put up online today.. He said it was likely, but nothing conrete had filtered down to his division so he wasnt sure about the increase.. Nice gy to talk to thou ;-)

2003-06-12 09:15:00 | For the record, the entire list of plans is at www.telecom.co.nz and www.telecom.co.nz (the second set are only for home use, but anyone can use the 'business' plans) The "cap" varies between 500M and 20G per month. It is not a limit to anything technically - it just means you have to pay if you exceed it. I don't have much trouble keeping below 500M per month but I don't do a lot of downloads - when I do (eg virus-scan updates) the speed advantage is well worth the $5/month premium over JS Starter. And if I do choose to get more, I just accept that is has a price, like anything else. The great thing about any JS product is that it doesn't tie up my phone, it is always there, and it is highly stable, with no drop-offs, speed variations, busy lines and all the other dial-up paraphenalia.
