150280 2003-06-07 05:08:00 Hi ephesus

I have also have the RTA210 as well . . . how regularly did u get drop off? hmmm in my case, I sometimes have once per day at random days . i sometimes get chop off when it is at midday and could last upto 15 minutes . . .

If u goto ur 192 . 168 . 1 . 1, take notice of your Line Attenuation and Noise Margin . if the line attenuation over 40db, it is very likely that the line getting chop off easily . but sometimes it is soley based on bad weather condition when i getting chopped off . in good days, i hardly get chopped off . . .

Yes, sometimes it might not worked if overheated, one night i forgetten to turn of the router, and keep in on until the next night, the router actually stop responding, when i ping to my router, it doesn't work received any signal . . . so wot i did, i actually give it a good rest (leave it off 10minutes or so), the router work back as normal . . .

I also have heard the Big John advice which he said send it back to dynalink, No, it is not necessary to bring it in back to dynalink unless they really think you have to . . . as long as the sticker of the back of the router is a yellow-ish colour with a Blue word, it will be fine .

hope that helps

150281 2003-06-07 06:39:00 Don't think its my lan card. Not working with either desktop or laptop. Can't be certain if its the cable. Have also tried leaving it to cool before turning on - still doesn't work. Telecom contractor said the connection is very good as it is close to exchange. Haven't had any problem before. Seems strange that this should happen with a brand new adsl. Have sent it back to Dynalink to check out and will let you all know the outcome but if anyone has more ideas, please advise. Thanks again. ephesus (2509)

Did you try powering down the modem and restarting it. If it works after this then it is the same problem I had.

The upgrade to the 220 certainly worked for me. I had problems with my 210 even though my mates one did not. Dynalink said noisy power supply and sent a new one and this decreased the problem but did not go away. They said send it back and we will send another one out but also said I could upgrade if I wanted. I did.

150283 2003-06-13 01:26:00 You just may have answered the problem. How close to the exchange are you. I rang Ryan at dynalink with the same problem and the way they fixed me was to add a filter (not normally supposed to) to the line which my router was on and then it worked fine. The problem was that the signal strength was to much for the modem to handle.
I have found dynalink very good. It is also good to see that there response time is getting even better.
Compare their support to say xtra's (I always get mucked around a lot) and I think you'll find they are very good.

150284 2003-06-13 02:43:00 its not the physical connection problem for the recall .

I just had a lockup mid nite . here is the story I am told .

the theory for that is Telecom random pauses adsl jetstart connections . its telecom's effort to stop someone running a server .
in this case, RT210 cannot handle, the physcial connection is still on . but u cant browse the net . u can't ping the router . dynalink had this problem with early model as well . u have to turn off the router, and back on again .

u dont have this problem with full speed adsl or jetstart with fixed ip address .

if some one get another theory, Im happy to know . saddly my router is already out of warranty .
