150718 2003-06-07 22:43:00 I want to upgrade my PC by putting in another 256MB stick of RAM, but the local computer parts shop don't have 256MB sticks of DDR266 RAM, only 256MB DDR333 sticks. I'm not sure what will happen if I put a DDR333 RAM stick in with my DDR266 RAM on my motherboard. Will it try to run the DDR266 at 333MHz or will the DDR333 stick just run at 266MHz? (And no, I'm not going to put in a stick of 512MB DDR266).

The system specs are as follows:

Athlon XP 2000+
Gigabyte GA7-VAX1394 m/b
256MB DDR266 RAM
GeForce FX 5600 vid card

Any help is appreciated.

150720 2003-06-07 22:47:00 Thanks. Will go out and buy that RAM today and then it's on to playing Unreal 2! Yeehaw! wintertide (1306)
150721 2003-06-08 01:24:00 At least you got the specs to run Unreal2. Damn that was a demanding game.My poor ol' xp1800 and gf3ti50064mb 512ddr had trouble playing that game. It crys to have its detail cranked up as it looks so sweet on the right hardware. Enjoy. Shame the game is so short. valiantnz (1709)
