150728 2003-06-07 21:15:00 Can anyone tell me what would be a reasonable, simple to use, but better featured than "Paint", image editor.
I have Ulead Photo Express 3.0, which came with my scanner and it just doesn't seem to be able to provide me with the functionality that I want.
Basically all I need is an eraser, pallette, line drawing, zoom, ability to resize and ability to add in text, clearly and at all sizes (want to edit a farm map).
I tried some freebies off the net, but they seem pretty hopeless, but there's a lot there I haven't tried too.
I would be grateful for some advice.

150729 2003-06-07 21:39:00 GIMP is free, It is just like photoshop, except it does not do YMCK needed for color printing. GIMP is all you need version of photoshop for WEB work.

150730 2003-06-08 01:29:00 Thanks E.ric,
I downloaded Gimp and have had a bit of a play with it. Obviously there will be a bit of a learning curve involved but that will be fun.
I had actually thought that the Windows version cost, although I realised that it has been bundled with some Linux Distros.
