| 150698 | 2003-06-07 13:34:00 | I've just got bf1942 and although I meet more than the requirements, (GF4 MX440 64MB, XP1800+, 256MB) the game is glitchy like I'm running it on a P166 with 4MB Video Memory. I've tried taking the bot CPU time down to 10% and the bots down to 95% but on the campaign it bites. Whenever there is an explosion it jutters like a friggin speedbump. I bore it to the 4 campaign where it took me 20 secs to walk what looked like about 30m. Even the spawn countdown was going 3 seconds to a game second. A while ago I benchmarked my PC with PC Mark 2001 and I scored 8165. Is my PC too slow? p.s. my friend has it on 150% bots and 20% CPU on a GF4 ti4200 128MB, XP2000+ and 512MB and it still is a bit glitchy. |

| 150699 | 2003-06-07 14:44:00 | What resolution are you running it at? Hit the tilde key( ~) and type in FPS 1 That will give you your frames per second count. You may have to push F8 to remove the ingame speech commands at the top of the screen. For best performance run the game at 800 by 600 res with those specs. Make sure that nothing else is running in the background chewing up CPU cycles. Ctrl Alt Del will bring up the task manager where you can shut down programs that you don't need running. Hit user name and if not online you can close everything down with your username beside it except for Task manager and Explorer exe. and leave your anti virus running too if your online. Those specs should be fine so maybe you also need to update the video card drivers. BF1942 runs best with 512mb of ram so lower the texture detail to medium will also help performance. | valiantnz (1709) | ||
| 150700 | 2003-06-07 21:08:00 | Set your video specs in game to "Medium" and you'll probably notice a big improvement in performance - I think by default the game sets video specs to high or maximum or whatever. Upping your RAM to 512 or higher would probably make a huge difference. Mike. |

| 150701 | 2003-06-09 07:45:00 | Okay. I'm now running it at 800x600x16 with low everything but view distance far ad light maps on but on the 'last' mission it is unplayable. And I have since remembered that my processor is only running at 1.53MHz its just called an XP1800+. However I have since found out that it is a problem within BF 1942 and a patchwill be released in the next few days. Version 1.4. Anyway I'm still gonna buy me another 256MB module for my RAM and a Antlon XP2400+. Hopefully. Thanks for your help guys. |
