| 151259 | 2003-06-09 09:48:00 | Hello, Does Any one know how you can send a message over a home network. I've only got two computer on my home network, but can i send a message to the person on the other computer who is in another room? Also ever since i installed the network, when you start up internet Explorer on one of the computers, it does not start the dial-up connection by it's self and it used to! Any help will be grateful Oscar |

| 151260 | 2003-06-09 10:00:00 | Half an answer. One way to send a message is just to send a text file to the other computers' Desktop where it will just appear, and should be seen. Using Network Neighborhood open the other computers Desktop folder and drag and drop the message file into it. In Win 98 the Desktop folder is in the Windows. |

| 151262 | 2003-06-09 10:04:00 | If BOTH machines are a mix of Windows NT, 2K or XP, then you can open up a command window (Click Start, Run, type: cmd) and type: net send pc_name_here message_goes_here hit enter. Although, I would recommend Remote Disconnection Utility, as it works for Remote Disconnection too, and works on anything from Win95 to WinXp :-) I'll see about a URL if youre interested.. | 151263 | 2003-06-09 10:10:00 | You can send messages using WinPopup on Windows95/98 and ME or NET SEND in Windows NT, 2000 and XP For Winpopup click Start > Run and type "Winpopup" (without the quote marks) For Net Send click Start > Run and type "CMD" (without the quote marks), press Enter and then type "NET SEND [computername] [message]" without the quote marks once more. Replace [computername] with the name of the computer you wish to send a message to, and [message] with your message. You can use a combination of both Net Send and Winpopup on the network. Could you please tell us what OS you are using that will no longer automatically dial into the internet? |
