2003-06-08 12:18:00 | Is there such a thing as a internal 56k AGP modem? Ive know of PCI and maybe ISA but not AGP. Can someone please inform me as i am considering making a bid for this modem on trademe. Cheers

2003-06-08 12:26:00 | I just looked at it on trademe, and I honestly don't think you can stick a modem in an AGP slot. I think the guy must be talking about ISA slot modem. I wouldnt bid for it anyway, its a bad brand (conexant) modem and you probably won't have any ISA slots on your motherboard. | PoWa (203) | |

2003-06-08 12:42:00 | Somebody has a Gateway OEM PCI hardware modem for sale on Trademe Thats a rare item here, only usually available in the US, but unless the drivers were with it, it could be tricky as Gateway would be unlikely to support it if it was not in a Gateway machine.

2003-06-08 23:28:00 | You can also get AMR Modems. AMR stands for - Audio Modem Riser, and the slot itself is just over an inch long. I have one on my motherboard, and use an AMR modem - i've had no problems with it. I think you can also get (cheap) AMR sound cards, but i'm not to sure on that one.

2003-06-08 23:35:00 | AGP stands for "Accelerated Graphics Port" Interface. AGP is a high performance interconnect for graphical display applications, particularly for high performance 3D graphics display. The AGP Interface Specification Revision 2.0 defines the interconnect up to 4x speed and Revision 3 defines the 8x interface specifications. There is no such thing (AFAIK) as an AGP modem. Cheers, Babe.

2003-06-08 23:45:00 | even if they mean AMR instead of AGP i still wouldn't touch it with a 20ft barge pole. amr modems are worth what ?? $5-10?? and hog the hell out of your cpu. | tweak'e (174) | |
2003-06-08 23:57:00 | tweak'e, is that true?? cos i currently have an AMR modem, but i also have about 4 PCI modems lying around, would you recommend replacing the AMR with a PCI? Cheers
